Ards Cycling Club was founded in 1944, and 2019 is our 75th anniversary. To celebrate this major milestone we’ve got some great events planned throughout the year. Here’s an outline to whet your appetite. Watch this space, and our Facebook page, for more details.
|April||Film Show. Details to be confirmed.|
|May||Weekend away – probably the early May bank holiday weekend, riding down to Newcastle on the Saturday and home on Sunday. Details to be confirmed|
|19th June||Town Centre races. In addition to our normal events, we’re hoping to add a four station team pursuit, and demonstration events for tandems and penny farthings|
|Late June||Journey to the source of the Lagan. A new sportive style event from the mouth of the Lagan in Belfast to the source on the slopes of Slieve Croob. Two routes are available – 75km to the source (with a lift back to the start by bus) or 75 miles for the full return journey.|
|11th Aug||Champion of Champions 25 mile time trial. Possible guest rider.|
|Sept||2nd film Show. Details to be confirmed.|
|19th Oct||Black tie event with special guest, including our prize night. More details to follow.|
All current members, past members and friends of the club are welcome to join us at these events. We’re also putting together a history of the club, so if you’ve any stories you’d like to share please contact any member of the 75th sub-committee – Darren Colville, Alison McErlane, Bernard McCloskey or Alastair Martin.
Looking forward to it!
