Ards Town Centre Races – 19th June

The novices event is always popular

The last vintage bike in an Ards CC open event was ridden by Graeme Obree on the club’s 50th anniversary in 1994. But the earliest reported Penny Farthing race in Newtownards was 1892. What will 2019 bring…?

The Ards Town Centre Races are always great fun, but this year is going to be extra special!

In addition to the usual novice, underage and senior races, we have three additional events planned as part of our 75th anniversary celebrations.

  • A team pursuit. Teams of four riders from four local clubs will ride a team pursuit. The teams will start equi-spaced around the course, and will race over six laps. Fastest team wins!
  • Some demonstration laps, featuring tandems and vintage bicycles.
  • A women’s race.

The full (draft) timetable is shown below. Entry for the main races is open now – http://www.entrycentral.com/ardstcr !

The event is on Wednesday 19th June, with the races kicking off as soon as the police close the roads at 7pm. Signon as usual in the Town Hall, with the start/finish at the bottom of Conway Square. Spread the word – it promises to be a great event!

The Ards boys did us proud last year.
