Joining a club is a great way to get the most out of your cycling. Whether you are a seasoned racer or a complete beginner, there is nothing better than riding with like-minded cyclists to develop your skills and challenge yourself.
You can now join Ards CC by completing the online form below. (you can still download the application form and post to the club secretary if you prefer)
Junior riders (under 18) must also download the forms on the Child Protection Page and post them to the club secretary. No rider under the age of 16 years will be permitted to ride club races on public roads (unless at an event organised by the youth committee) nor be permitted to ride on a club runs unless accompanied by a parent with the appropriate Parental Consent form completed and annotated.
Currently there are three club membership categories. Detailed below are the membership categories and the annual club membership fees.
1) Full Membership £15
2) Youth & Junior £5
3) Supporter only £1
The following definition of ‘Supporter only’ membership was ratified at the 2012 AGM: “A member who does not ride a bicycle at club organised events (e.g. races, time-trials or club runs).”
If you join on or after 1 November, your initial membership runs till the end of December the following year (as per Cycling Ireland Technical Rules Jan 2014, G1.5).
You can pay your club fees (£15 / £5 / £1) by four ways (listed in order of preference).
- On Cycling Ireland website when applying for your cycling licence.
- Bank transfer into Ards CC account. This is the preferred method for traceability. Details for payment are .. Sort code 95-03-96 Account 00154334 Name Ards Cycling Club .. (Please use the reference “Your name – club fees” to identify the payment)
- Post cheque and form to club secretary – Gareth Murray, 34 Manna Grove, Belfast, BT5 6AJ
- Hand money/cheque to committee member in sealed envelope with name(s) and amount clearly marked.
Club membership is not confirmed until you have paid the relevant club fees.
You should then take out a Cycling Ireland licence. Membership of Cycling Ireland gives added insurance and third party protections as well as a full year’s programme of organised events in addition to up to three club events per week mid season. Click here details on how to do this. You must have a valid Cycling Ireland licence to cycle with the club – club runs / club events.
