A quick 5 between the showers

As the wind and rain of Storm Francis eased the chief marshal made a late call to go ahead with tonight’s 5 mile time trial on the Donaghadee Road. Eleven hardy souls faced the time keeper, and although there was still a strong cross wind it turned out to be quite a fast night. Quickest was Luke Joyce (Bikehouse) with 10:59, followed by fastest Ards rider Conor Hanna on 11:24.

Name Club Time
1 Luke Joyce Bikehouse 10:59
2 Conor Hanna Ards CC 11:24
3 Marc Allen Ards CC 12:03
4 Ben Healey Ards CC 12:06
5 Kevin Briggs Ards CC 12:07
6 Michael Rowan Northern 12:15
7= Andrew Jess Ards CC 12:29
7= Niall Brown Ards CC 12:29
9 Richard Hanna Ards CC 12:42
10 Steve Core Ards CC 13:22
11 Alan Rodgers Ards CC 13:35

Fortunately everyone was safely finished by 7.30pm, as the light was fading quickly and the dry window was closing again.. Next Tuesday is the final evening club race of the year – the Bradshaw’s Brae hillclimb. Meet at the Kiltonga duck pond car park, and note the earlier start time of 6.30pm.

There is also a club run listed in the club calendar for the second weekend in September. This is still under review, and will depend on the evolving government and Cycling Ulster guidelines among other things. We’ll have more details soon.

Thanks as always to the time keepers and marshals. And apologies for the poor quality of tonight’s photos – my camera couldn’t cope with the low light conditions.
