Despite near perfect conditions at Kirkistown motor racing track this evening for the first round of the Inter Club League – a one hour time trial – Filippo Ganna’s world hour record of 56.792km remains intact. Restricting riders to road bikes certainly swung the odds in Ganna’s favour, and many thought that Kirkistown wasn’t quite as fast as the Tissot Velodrome in Grenchen, Switzerland where Ganna put the record on the shelf 18 months ago.

Furthest tonight was Barry Mitchell (Ards CC) with 41.33km, and he takes an early lead in the ICL, from Glen Curry (North Down) and Ian Carson (Ards CC).
