Tough Conditions for Straight in 10k

There was a cold westerly wind on the Portaferry Road this evening making conditions tough for the first straight in 10k time trial of the year. Twenty hardy riders faced the time keeper, and visitor Erwin McKee (Banbridge CC) was the clear winner in a strong time of 13:46. Andrew Hedley (Ards CC) beat last week’s winner Marc Allen (Ards CC) for second place, but Marc once again took the win on handicap.

Thanks to our timekeepers and pusher off. Hopefully we’ll have warmer, brighter conditions for next Tuesday’s 10 mile time trial at Millisle.

(Note – npt in the table stands for “no previous time”. This means I don’t have a previous time for that rider, and so can’t work out a handicap difference. They’ll get a handicap time in their next 10k. A negative handicap means the rider was slower than their personal best. All the handicaps were negative tonight – hardly surprising given the tough conditions.
