Christmas 10 – all welcome!

Ards CC has been running a Christmas 10 on the Portaferry Road for almost 40 years. It’s a fun event, with no entry fee, but everyone is encouraged to bring a small, nicely wrapped present, so that no-one goes home empty handed.

Micky Carroll (centre) was a regular winner in the 1990s, but he got a bit of surprise from the Ards “boys” in this photo – from the left – our new president James McFarlane, past secretary Lindsay Gamble, past chairman and president Bobby Magreechan, an unidentified monkey, Micky Carroll, Russell Moreland and a slightly bemused looking Daniel Trimble. Thanks to the book “Recycled Memories” for another great photo.

Fancy dress has played a big part in the event over the years, and given the turn out at the fry run last weekend, there are lots of great outfits out there that could be user again.

Give your fancy dress outfit a second spin on Christmas morning – you know you want to!

There are always a couple of riders who take it seriously, but don’t let that put you off! The vast majority come down for the craic (and for Desi’s special punch) and to build up a healthy appetite for Christmas lunch.

As always, this year’s race starts at the Flood Gates on the Portaferry Road on Christmas morning, with the first rider off at 10am. Don’t miss it 🙂
