A night for strong riders

Riders faced a strong northerly headwind in tonight’s 10k time trial on the Portaferry Road, with most finishing two or three minutes slower than their personal bests. That made Paul Crossan’s winning time of 14:17 particularly impressive – an average speed of over 26mph.

Mark Kane was second, leading in a strong contingent of riders from Northern/Dave Kane.

Winner on handicap was Andrew Jess with a time just 4 seconds slower than his personal best. Second on handicap was Niall Brown, with Alan Rodgers third, and these two have finished top of the 10k handicap trophy (see the second table below).

Finally a reminder that the Champion of Champions 25 mile time trial is on this Sunday. It would be great to see a good turnout of Ards CC riders at the event, especially as Paul Crossan is showing he is in excellent form….
