TUZ Winter League

The Team Ulster Zwifters WInter “Chase Race” League had their eighth and final race last Wednesday, and Ards riders had some very strong results from a field of over 400 competitors.

In the top “A” category, Stuart MIllar finished third overall, and Peter McLean was 12th in spite of only completing 4 of the 8 events.

And Ards CC were second in the A category team competition (Stuart and Peter, backed up by Robin Wilson, Chris Murphy, Andrew Hedley and Marc Allen).

And Ards CC were top in the B category as well. Congratulations to all – brilliant!

Club Race Update

The Tour of Ards was originally down for this Saturday, but has already been re-scheduled to 29th May. And the club race calendar was due to start on Tuesday 30th March, but current restrictions mean the first couple of events are likely to be cancelled. Sport NI is now hoping that some outdoor sports activity will be allowed from 12th April, but we’ll also need to see what Cycling Ulster and Cycling Ireland recommend. Hopefully we’ll have some limited club races and club runs by the middle of April – watch this space!

Congratulations to Paul Watson

Paul Watson was  recently appointed Commissaire President for the 2021 World Track Championships in Turkmenistan in October by the UCI. Paul, and his father Jack, will be well known to many in our club, having often commissaired at our open events, giving us a highly professional and good natured service over several decades.

Congratulations to Paul on this fantastic achievement – enjoy it!

Erratum

Some readers questioned the feature image of llamas beside last week’s post, when the story actually featured lambs. We believe this may have been due to a picture labelling error in the Ards CC photo library – it can happen to the most professional of media outlets 🙂

It’s such a great photo we couldn’t resist using it again. It was taken within 5 miles of Newtownards – but where is it…? Answer next week.
