Ian won the Jardine Trophy and the biggest present

Regular visitor Ian Inglis used his 49×12 fixed wheel to great effect on Christmas morning to win by more than 3 minutes from Alastair Martin, with Stan Stewart a further minute back in third.

Biggest story of the day though was the large hole that appeared during the event. It looked innocent enough on the way out, but by the time riders were coming back the police had closed the road to cars. Most riders avoided the diversion, although Alan Rodgers was forced to make a detour up Cunningburn Road.

The hole looks innocent, but it actually stretched back about 2 metres under the road and at least 2 metres deep. Rumours that it was caused by Ian’s gearing have not been confirmed as we go to press..
