First win for Drennan at Carrowdore

The first club race of the season was over 5 laps of the Carrowdore circuit on Tuesday evening. The twenty four riders were split into three groups by the handicappers, and some generous gaps encouraged the front group to get their heads down and drive hard. They stayed clear, with John Carey (NDCC) taking the win from Clive Baillie (Bikeworks). Martin Drennan was next, and takes an early lead in the club Road Race league.

The second group were 1:46 behind, with scratch another 30s further back. Maybe there were some tired legs tonight from last week’s Majorca training camp :-). Richard Hanna was second Ards man home, followed by Paul McMinn, Willy McMullan, Willy Gill and John Arlow.

It was good to see some old faces down at the race.

Good to see Paul McMinn back in action, and in the results already.
