Course Record in club 10 mile TT

There was a small turnout for the club 10 on Tuesday, but the quality was excellent with Mark Kane setting a course record of 22:10.

Many Ards riders were at the Ulster Team Trial championships. Our Vets team had a great ride to beat the Vets teams from North Down CC and Phoenix. They also put over 3 minutes into the younger “Ards CC – Spin Doctors” team.

The absence of some of the club regulars gave other riders a chance to shine, and Ian Carson grabbed the opportunity with a new personal best time. This gave him 10 points towards the club 10 mile handicap trophy and 10 points towards the McFarlane trophy.

Place Name Club Time H’cap McF.
1 Mark Kane Northern 22:10
2 Matty Blayney NDCC 23:08
3 Paul Crossen Killinchy CC 24:11
4 Ian Carson Ards CC 25:51 10pts 10pts
5 Mark Hodgkins NDCC 26:24
6 Alan Rodgers Unattached 28:11
7 James Lemon NDCC/Pen 29:29
8 Peter McErlane Ards CC 30:43 7pts 7pts

Radio Ulster were also at the event, recording some members’ memories from the first Champion of Champions races between Chris Boardman and Graeme Obree. These were for a “Giro build up” story that was aired on the Good Morning Ulster show on Wednesday morning.

Finally, apologies for the outage on the website over the last 24 hours. This was because I forgot to pay the bill, but also reminds me that the new club website is now one year old. As always, if you’ve any comments or suggestions, please leave a comment (form at the bottom of the page), or contact a member of committee.
