Paul McMinn was first Ards rider in tonight’s club road race at Orlock, and takes the lead in the club road race trophy with one race left to go.
Winner on the night was James McMaster (North Down CC), followed by Andrew McCullough (Kinning) and Noel Boyce (North Down CC). Paul was 4th, with David Hamilton (Curran) and David Fowler (Northern CC) filling out the top six.
The top six Ards riders, and the current standings in the road race trophy, are shown in the table below.
Due to roadworks with traffic lights near Donaghadee the race used the Stockbridge Road and was over 5 laps. It was an overcast evening with patches of drizzle. 34 riders started the race in 2 groups – the first group with 22 riders and the scratch group of 12 riders at 3 minutes. The race came together in the 4th lap.
Thanks to all the marshals, particularly those who had to move quickly following the change of course, and the camera volunteers who assisted the timekeepers/judges Paul Robinson and Ron Martin.
