Close fight for Brae hillclimb

Regular hill climb winner Stuart Millar (Ards CC) was a non-starter for this evening’s hill climb on the popular Bradshaw’s Brae course, which opened up the competition for the podium. Three riders stepped up, with James Alexander (McConvey Cycles) just getting the nod from Ryan Kane (Northern CC) and Jonny Adams (McConvey Cycles). And the next 5 riders were covered by just 6 seconds, showing the depth of strength that now exists in this branch of our sport.

Thanks to the time keepers, pusher off, and spectators. It was great to see Dave and Maggie Kane down this evening to support their grandson. And well done to Greg Eager, who picked a tough event for his first race. They will get easier (apart, possibly, from next week’s final club race on Carrowreagh Hill – a course last used by the club for the All Ireland hill climb championships in 1991 – don’t miss it!). And don’t forget the Tour of Strangford Sportive this Sunday, 7th September.
