Stuart Millar (Ards CC) made it two out of two club hillclimbs this evening when he added Bradshaw’s Brae to his win at Scrabo back in June. With a slight tail wind he recorded a very quick time of 3:45. In fact, this could possibly be a course record, although a number of clubs have used different versions of this course over the years so unfortunately we’re not completely sure..

Marc Allen (Ards CC) improved by 22 seconds from his time last year to take second in 3:52, and visitor Gary Granston (East Antrim CC) also dipped under the magical 4 minute barrier with 3:59.

Glen Curry deserves a special mention for admitting it is 30 years since he last rode the Bradshaw’s Brae hill climb. Hopefully the next gap won’t be as long!

There was a great turnout of 22 riders, which must be a record for a late season hillclimb. Thanks to the time keepers, and a special thanks to Marc Allen for pushing everyone off before jumping on his bike for his ride – that’s definitely a novel warming up technique.

That’s our club races complete for this year, but there’s still time to enter our Tour of Strangford sportive on Sunday 11th September.
