We’re delighted that 13 year old Ards CC member Karl Rockett is planning a 100 mile ride in May to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support.

Karl is already a four time Ulster road race champion, and it is great to see him take on a new challenge while also raising money for a very worthy cause.

Could they follow in the footsteps of the famous Swedish brothers Erik,  Gösta, Sture and Tomas Pettersson, who won the World 100km team time trial championships in 1967, 1968 and 1969? They also took silver in the Mexico Olympics, before Gösta turned pro, finishing third in the Tour de France in 1970 and winning the Giro d’Italia in 1971.

Perhaps we’re getting ahead of ourselves! Good luck in May Karl, and enjoy the ride. There’ll be plenty of time to dream about the future in the Antrim hills 🙂
