Although there has only been limited racing over the last couple of months, the cycling world has managed to strike a successful balance between safety and excitement, culminating in one of the most enthralling editions of the Tour De France in years at the weekend.
The local scene has also provided us with a much needed lift, with some great racing (not least our very own Champion of Champions) and more success for Ards riders last weekend.
First up was Ivan Robinson at the Ulster 25 mile time trial championships on Saturday. Ivan won gold in the M60 category, to go with the gold he won in the 10 mile championships back at the start of August.
And on Sunday it was the turn of the young Rockett brothers at the Ulster Youth Championships in Tyrone. Karl picked up his fourth Ulster road race win in the under-13 category and took second in the time trial. And Jamie was second in the under-11 road race, and just 12 seconds off a medal in the time trial.
Well done to all!
