Marshals outnumber riders at Orlock

Plenty of story value for tonight’s five competitors

Kyle takes the win

After torrential rain this afternoon, and a lot of soul searching, just 5 riders signed on for tonight’s club road race at Orlock. The handicappers cut the distance to two laps (16 miles), and split them into two groups. They came together on the second lap, and in the drag to the line, Kyle Adams took the win ahead of fellow scratch riders Niall Brown and Steve Limmer. They were followed home by Jamie McConnell and Glen Moore.

This result gives Kyle a strong lead in the Road Race Trophy, with just one race left and a rider’s best four results to count.

A special thanks to all the marshals who turned out tonight – less daunted by the tough conditions than the riders.

And a quick reminder about the club BBQ this weekend. If you’d like to go, please let Darren Colville know as soon as possible – all members and their families are very welcome. There are currently 55 signed up. The venue is 20 The Oaks, Newtownards (off the Old Shore Road – our house is on the left just before the second mini roundabout). People usually arrive from about 3.30pm. And a couple of special requests –

  • If a few folk could bring deserts, that would be great.
  • Any offers to help with the cooking would be gratefully received.
  • And could a couple of people bring bikes for the rollers?

Thanks.
