We’re delighted to announce that Wirefox will be sponsoring an Ards CC team at three stage races this season – in Donegal, Newry and Omagh. Chain Reaction Cycles will also be helping out with bottles, gels, etc.
First up this weekend is the Donegal 3 day, where Ards will be represented by Gareth Murray, Kyle Adams, Robin Wilson and Andrew Hedley. Laura Wilson will be team manager. We wish them well!

Halesowen Academy at this year’s Tour of the North – could Ards CC emulate their model?
Stage racing is a great way to develop your road racing career, and a natural step up from single day events. I’ve been fortunate enough to get an insight into the Halesowen Academy – a development squad set up by English club Halesowen CC. They’ve been coming over to the Newry 3 day for the last couple of years, with some success including a day in the Junior leader’s jersey. This year they stepped up to the Tour of the North at Easter, with their distinctive purple jerseys regularly visible at the front of the bunch. A couple of top 5 stage placings, and talk was already turning to next year’s Ras on the boat journey home 🙂
